Senator Ted Cruz just pulled down a major endorsement:
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz , who has been making a coordinated play for the votes of Christian conservatives, on Thursday was endorsed by evangelical leader James Dobson in the Republican race for president.
Dobson is the founder of the group Focus on the Family and hosts the radio show “Family Talk.”
“Ted Cruz’s record on religious liberty, life, and marriage is second to none in this Republican field,” Dobson said in a statement sent out by the Cruz campaign. “I have met with the senator on multiple occasions: he is brilliant, articulate, and informed.”
This is a major endorsement for Cruz, who has used his time in the Senate to argue tirelessly for religious liberty. It will be interesting to see whether or not it helps him cut into Donald Trump’s YUUGE lead.
