The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee is placing the blame for the rise of ISIS squarely on then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Texas Congressman Michael McCaul says Clinton’s policies “imploded Iraq and creates ISIS,” by mismanaging Iraq’s internal security, then ignoring the growing threat as the group took root.
“I would say that she and the president are responsible for ISIS rearing its ugly head. They have not effectively dealt with it and that’s going to be a huge campaign issue,” said Rep. Michael McCaul.
“I think Mrs. Clinton has a lot of weaknesses because she was the architect of the Obama administration’s foreign policy as the secretary of state,” said McCaul.
Obama attracted criticism when he initially dismissed ISIS as “the JV team.”
Clinton herself has said the State Department was not focused on the threat of ISIS during her tenure.
