During the Democratic debate, Hillary Clinton shocked even the most liberal comm entators when she explained, rather bizarrely, that her cozy ties to Wall Street were because of “something something 9/11.” Many saw it as tasteless and opportunistic. Charlie Rose gave Hillary the opportunity to atone this week, and in typical tone deaf Hillary fashion, she doubled down on the inanity:

CBS’ Charlie Rose asked Clinton about a new report.from the Associated Press showing that as Secretary of State, she often set aside time to meet with big donors from Wall Street and major corporations. “You know, I worked really hard to get more jobs for Americans,” she said. “And that meant representing big business and small business and everybody in between.”

“Have you suffered from the fact that they say you’re too close to Wall Street?” asked Rose. “Has that hurt your image, in your judgment, running for president?”

“I don’t think so,” she responded. “I have stood for a lot of regulation on big banks and on the financial services sector. I also represented New York and represented everybody from the dairy farmers, you know, to the fishermen, everybody.”

“And so yes, do I know people? And did I, you know, help rebuild after 9/11? Yes, I did,” Clinton concluded.

For those of us min the know, Hillary’s answer doesn’t hold water. Most Americans recognize the revolving door between Washington and Wall Street, and are well aware of the fact that big banks authored and benefitted from Dodd-Frank legislation that codified bailouts and imposed harsh regulatory requirements on small community banks. And as we’ve documented here, the money seems to suggest that many realize the Clintons are for sale, and CAN be influenced. For Hillary to claim otherwise proves how little she thinks of the American voter.
