Mount Rushmore stands as one of the great monuments in American history. Approved under Calvin Coolidge, the project’s greatest patron and advocate was Republican South Dakota Senator Peter Norbeck, who lobbied vociferously to get the project done.
Mount Rushmore was completed in 1941. It features George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, meant to honor the first 130 years of American history and the men who worked to preserve the American Republic and expand its territory.
These men were all very different, but they have one thing in common…
NONE OF THEM WERE DEMOCRATS.
