During the Democratic debate, Bernie Sanders controlled the action. He opened up and dominated the floor, pushing his hard left socialist agenda in a way that forced Hillary Clinton from her comfortable establishment liberalism and energized the loony left-wing crowd. Then it all fell apart. Bernie looked at Hillary and bailed out her entire flailing campaign, stopping the action to point out that “The American people are sick of hearing about your damned emails!” Many, including Republican Presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, pointed out that this was when Bernie gave the election away. And since, his poll numbers have tanked.
Desperate, Sanders is now reversing course.
In the Democratic debate last month, Mr. Sanders said voters were “sick and tired” of the focus on Mrs. Clinton’s “damn emails…”
Mr. Sanders rejected that assessment on Wednesday. If her email practices foiled public-records requests or compromised classified information, those are “valid questions,” Mr. Sanders said…
On the issue of Mrs. Clinton’s emails, Mr. Sanders didn’t say he regretted his debate remarks. “You get 12 seconds to say these things,” he said of the debate setting. “There’s an investigation going on right now. I did not say, ‘End the investigation.’ That’s silly….Let the investigation proceed unimpeded.”
It might be too little too late. The Democrats have a debate this week, but Clintonista Debbie Wasserman Schultz has scheduled it for Friday, when no one will be watching. Barring an indictment, Bernie probably missed his chance.
