In an interview with Breitbart News, Ben Carson revealed that there’s one issue that will be a top priority for him if elected:
He calls abortion “The Literal Enemy of Our Children”–at least, that’s how Dr. Carson began talking about the issue of life in his latest book: A More Perfect Union, What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties.
“Financial stability and education will do our children no good if they are not alive to experience them,” Carson wrote in his latest New York Times best-seller.
When asked what he would do as U.S. president to support the Constitutional rights of the unborn, Dr. Carson said, “First of all, I would use the bully pulpit to talk about the culture of life.”
Dr. Carson also said that he would appoint judges and justices with records that include rulings that were in favor of protecting the unborn.
Carson’s position is a far cry from that of Paul Ryan, who, while extremely pro life, has decided that defunding Planned Parenthood will not be a priority for him as speaker.
The professional political class has been wrong about a lot this election, and to say they’re not enthusiastic about the prospect of a Trump or Carson lead ticket would be an understatement. But instead of pouting about the ureasonableness of the whole thing, perhaps it’s time they took a hard look at what voters nationwide are saying when they cast a vote for the soft spoken, socially conservative neurosurgeon. He’s made no apologies for his extremely socially conservative positions, and despite a total lack of experience, he’s rocketed to the top of the polls, building a campaign that is fiscally robust and incredibly popular in early primary states. At what point will D.C. Republicans realize this and make an effort to meet him halfway?
