In this throwback video from the White House Correspondents dinner, liberal comedian Seth Myers smears a very unhappy Donald Trump. Myers ripped Trump’s
famous quaf, mocked the notion of Trump running as a joke, and cast doubt on Trump’s relationship with the black community, as President Barack Obama cackled along.
Who’s laughing now? Four years later, Trump is not only the GOP frontrunner, but some polling suggests he garners about 20 percent of the black vote. For comparison’s sake- Mitt Romney won only 17 percent of the TOTAL non-white vote. His success has not only shocked beltway insiders, but it’s given us all a glimpse of how out of touch the professional political class is with ordinary Americans. Trump’s plainspoken outsider style has struck a chord with Americans who are sick of being talked at and patronized by professional politicians giving market research tested, rehearsed speeches loaded with vagary.
The beltway insiders were laughing then, but Trump is laughing now.
