Donald Trump’s improbable rise to Republican Presidential frontrunner got more complicated this week, as Dr. Ben Carson pushed ahead in several polls. Still, Trump is still more likely than anyone named Carson.
But not, apparently, if you watch TV. One famous television host is suggesting that the media is using this modest slide in the polls to write Trump’s obituary.
“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said Friday that the media has a “built-in bias for Donald Trump’s collapse.”
On MSNBC, Scarborough ranted against the “outrageous” coverage from CNN and CNBC for their reporting that Trump’s campaign was over when a CBS poll came out last week that had Carson ahead of Trump by two points.
“The media narrative… was that Ben Carson is now the leader,” he said.
Scarborough explained that the media are “all Trump deniers” and said that he was watching Anderson Cooper last night on CNN and there the lower third was “screaming” for 10 minutes, “Can Donald Trump Come Back?”
Trump’s campaign has been slammed for a lot of things, but his blunt…truth telling? has made him a favorite of Americans that feel the media and the Washington establishment don’t represent their views. In fact, it’s likely that his war on the media has endeared him to more voters. Scarborough seems to get this, as the rest of the media should. Trump’s “joke” candidacy stopped being a joke months ago, and it’s probably time that they treated it as the serious endeavor that it is.
