Today, Vice President Joe Biden gave a bizarre speech, announcing that he won’t be seeking the presidency and then laying out what amounted to a political platform. It was as if he copy pasted his speech after changing his mind.
Not long after, Republican Presidential frontrunner Donald Trump took to Twitter to sound off on Biden’s decision, tweeting the following:
“I think Joe Biden made correct decision for him & his family. Personally, I would rather run against Hillary because her record is so bad.”
Once again, Trump is on the money and not pulling any punches. Many Democratic voters are no doubt disappointed that they’re stuck voting for an wooden oligarch who changes positions with the wind. Although little separates Biden from Clinton, polling finds Biden is viewed far more favorably than Hillary Clinton. There’s no doubt that starting his campaign this late would be a challenge, but a rumored alliance between Biden and faux Native American Senator Elizabeth Warren could have created a groundswell necessary to knock Hillary Clinton out of the race.
Conservatives were hoping that a Biden run would divert resources from Hillary Clinton and lead her into the general election bruised and battered. But Biden’s absence leaves liberals with no credible, electable alternative to Hillary, and all the scandals that plague her.
