Puerto-Rican pro-Independence forces collaborated to assassinate the-President Harry Truman in 1950. Two Puerto-Rican nationals conspired to assassinate the President while he was staying at the Blair house due to White House Renovations. When the two arrived at the property they attempted to assassinate the Capitol police officer stationed there, they shot him in the knee but were soon apprehended before they could reach the President.
