Collin Clark Peterson is the most senior representative serving Minnesota, more specifically, the people of the 7th congressional district. The center-right Democrat is generally conservative on social issues and gun control. He has an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association.
Such stances, along with his seniority and affable nature, help explain how Peterson has consistently won re-election in the state’s most conservative congressional district.

Peterson’s next term will likely be his last, if he can survive 2020, that is. Republicans, sensing the rural district’s increasingly rightward shift, have targeted Peterson in a concerted effort.
