Many on the Left will tell you that Columbus didn’t “discover” America. Although technically true, the societal changes that emerged from tribes that developed agriculture first in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe versus those longer predisposed to hunter-gatherer lifestyles (as in the Americas), all but ensured someone from those regions would “discover” the Americas, acting as the catalyst for the long and often dark history of colonialism.

Although Vikings landed in modern-day Newfoundland almost five centuries before Columbus arrived in what we now call the Bahamas, this is irrelevant, as Columbus reported what he saw and who he encountered in unprecedented detail.
