Pizzella is a registered Republican and veteran bureaucrat who served multiple agencies.
He formerly worked on the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLAR), to which then-President Obama appointed him in 2013.
Since April 2018, he’s served as the acting Secretary of Labor.
