Daniel Daly received the award for his courage in the Boxer rebellion and would go on to earn a second during the Banana Wars. During a counter-attack by the boxers, he single-handedly took down 200 men and was awarded the medal of honor. Later during his career, he led a unit of 35 Marines against an attack by 400 Caicos rebels in the Banana wars.
