By the number of confirmed murders, Gary Ridgway is the most prolific serial killer in American history.
Ridgway killed at least 49 women around Seattle during the 1980s and 1990s, most of whom were either sex workers or runaways.
After DNA evidence linked him to the murders of four women, Ridgway accepted a plea bargain to reveal the location of still-missing women to escape the death penalty.
