Barr joined the ranks of the Central Intelligence Agency from 1973 to 1977 as an analyst and assistant legislative counsel while studying law at night at George Washington University.
Barr received his law degree in 1977 and began clerking for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit before joining a high-powered D.C. firm.
