Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-Calif.) cruised to an easy victory in the Golden State’s 29th District, nabbing 80 percent of the vote.

His landslide came amid an ongoing lawsuit that he drugged and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in 2007.

A Los Angeles Superior Court ruled that “a reasonable and meritorious basis” for the case to proceed and Cárdenas was publicly identified as the accused person. He denied the accusations.

Cárdenas owes his victory to party leaders ignoring the allegations and representing one of the most liberal districts in the country, with a Partisan Voter Index (PVI) of D+29!
