A jury convicted this prolific serial killer in the murder of nine women and one young girl. He evaded detection for so long in part because he targeted individuals on societies’ fringes, including prostitutes, and drug addicts.
As if taunted authorities, Lonnie “The Grim Sleeper” Franklin dumped their bodies on the side of the road where often found by the next day.
His sickening murder spree lasted for more than 20 years. Although the real number will never be known, investigators believe he killed more than double the women he was convicted of butchering.
Police finally caught Franklin in 2007. He sits in jail to this day, all on the taxpayer’s dime.
