Gov. Ducey considers Kyl, Arizona’s Junior Senator from 1995-2013, his mentor.
Kyl has the necessary experience. During his tenure in the Upper Chamber, he ultimately became the party’s number two in the Senate, behind Mitch McConnell.
However, Kyl’s age – fast approaching 80 – makes him a likely placeholder until the next election, not a true replacement.
