Today marks Purple Heart Day, on this day we need to think about our real-life American heroes who were wounded or killed in the line of duty. The Purple Heart medal was introduced in 1917 and is for individuals who have been injured and or killed in the line of duty during any conflict with an enemy of the United States, an opposing force the US has been engaged with or currently engaged with, or when serving with our allies across the globe. Veterans who served in the Middle East, the Pacific, Europe, and every other corner of the world have received this award for gallantry in combat. Here are 7 Heroes to Remember this purple heart day.
