Imagine for a moment that a top Republican hired a Russian IT professional, turned a blind eye to suspicious activity, and then fought to kill an investigation into said activity. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) hired Pakistani-American Imran Awan for years, all while he compromised House emails and servers, possibly exposing them to foreign actors. The Democrat leader tried to quash the investigation and threatened investigators who probed the case, even as Awan and his wife are pleading guilty to bank fraud in a plea deal with the Department of Justice. The first scenario would be on the front page of every major newspaper, but because Schultz is a Democrat, you’ve barely heard about it – if at all.
