ABC cancelled legendary comedian Roseanne Barr’s revived sitcom, “Roseanne” after sending out a tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett, an African American Obama administration official, to actors playing primates in the cinema classic “Planet of the Apes.” Most considered the tweet blatantly racist. Roseanne quickly apologized and denied that was her intention.
But the damage was done. In a matter of hours, Hollywood effectively exiled one of America’s most famous stand-up comics and the star of ABC’s highest-rated show.
We can’t help but wonder if Roseanne would’ve survived if she didn’t go against tinseltown’s prevailing political views.
Case in point here are other prominent stars (of the liberal variety) who avoided getting fired despite being engulfed by scandals. Number five should’ve gotten the boot yesterday.
