A tone-deaf Oprah gave a coveted post-September 11th appearance on her highly-rated show to an Islamic scholar with at least one extremely disconcerting interpretation of the Quran. Varun Soni appeared on Winfrey’s show, where she attempted to whitewash the concept of jihad, claiming it’s synonymous with the term spiritual battle, not ‘holy war.’
Denying that jihad is encouraged in a few radicalized strains of Islam is disingenuous and wrong.
