The final GOP presidential debate of 2015 is set to take place on Tuesday night. The debate will be aired on CNN and is co moderated with Salem media.
The main stage will feature 9 candidates. Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Chris Christie, and John Kasich made the debate based on polling criteria either nationally or in Iowa or New Hampshire. Rand Paul somehow made the main debate despite the fact he fell short of the polling criteria used by CNN. Four others made an undercard but at this point no one really cares about it.
Here are some of the things we can likely expect in the debate.
1. Everybody hates Marco. Expect a lot of attacks on the guy polling third in the race. Marco Rubio will come under fire for everything from his immigration positions to his foreign policy stances. Expect some of the governors to also take shots at Rubio’s inexperience as well. Ironically, the man who was elected in 2010 with Tea Party support has replaced Jeb Bush as the face of everything many Republican party voters hate about its party establishment.
2. Will Trump and Cruz escalate their attacks on each other? Trump and Cruz are finally mixing it up a little bit. Trump called Cruz a “maniac” and conservatives are firing back at Trump. Will there be more?
3. Chris Christie must have a great night. Don’t look but Chris Christie is actually on the move in New Hampshire. In at least one poll, he has overtaken Marco Rubio for second in the Granite State. If Christie, who is a skilled debater, can land some blows against Rubio in particular, it will only help his cause in that state.
4. Finally, outside of a gaffe, no one will really remember this debate. This debate is falling right before the Christmas and New Year holidays. People will start tuning out of politics as they start preparing to see their families.
The debate is set to begin 8:30 PM ET and if you want to suffer through the kid’s table debate, it starts at 6:00 PM ET. The debate will take place in Las Vegas.
