A manhunt is on in North Carolina—as authorities seek to capture an illegal immigrant accused of raping a teenage girl and assaulting her mother.
Luis Alberto Cruz-Rojas, 29, faces two counts of second-degree rape, one count of second-degree kidnapping, and one count of assault on a female.
His victim, who has not been named, has been described as a teenage acquaintance of Cruz-Rojas. She had allegedly been raped by Cruz-Rojas multiple times since the beginning of the year.
According to police, Cruz-Rojas found out about the investigation—and assaulted the victim’s mother before going on the run, traveling in what authorities believe to be a Ford Explorer from the late 1990s or early 200s.
Police are requesting that anyone with knowledge of Cruz-Rojas’s whereabouts should contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
