Authorities in Oregon are hunting for a fugitive Mexican illegal immigrant, who raped a nine-year-old girl as she was sleeping in her bed.
Santiago Martinez-Flores, 48, is accused of breaking into an apartment in Clackamas, Oregon, through a window. He made his way into the bedroom where his nine-year-old victim and her five-year-old sister were sleeping—and proceeded to pin down and rape the older sister.
Midway through the rape, the nine-year-old managed to break free—and ran into her parents’ room for help. Her father grabbed his gun, and returned to the girls’ bedroom to confront his daughter’s rapist—but, by that point, Martinez-Flores had already fled the scene.
However, authorities were able to fingerprint the bedroom, leading them to their suspect.
Martinez-Flores had been previously deported by the U.S. government in 2001—after committing a string of crimes in the 1990s. He ultimately served two years in an Oregon state prison before his deportation. It’s not clear when in the last 16 years Martinez-Flores snuck back across the border and returned to Oregon.
Martinez-Flores’s whereabouts are currently unknown.
