Liberal news site Huffington Post is in hot water—after a columnist openly called for the “execution” of President Donald Trump.
An article published Saturday by contributor Jason Fuller contained angry rhetoric, accusing Trump of “treason” for the widely-discredited theory that he colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.
Fuller, in his headline, declares: “Trump must be prosecuted and—if convicted in a court of law—executed.”
He added that “impeachment isn’t enough” to stop Trump: the 45th President of the United States needs “the ultimate punishment” of death, in order to save the United States.
Fuller also called, shockingly, for the execution of “everyone assisting in his agenda” including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, and White House aide Steve Bannon.
Fuller’s piece was horrifying enough on its own—but it got renewed attention after Wednesday’s shooting, where a Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire on a group of congressional Republicans, critically injuring Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and three other people.
Facing a tremendous backlash, Huffington Post was forced to pull the article on Thursday. However, they have not yet issued an apology to the victims of Wednesday’s attack for their own role in promoting the death of Republican politicians.
