A second-generation immigrant in Queens has announced her intention to primary incumbent Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic socialist, cost the Big Apple tens of thousands of jobs by sabotaging Amazon’s deal with the city.

Such antics and injudicious attacks on her party’s leadership appear to have hurt her approval rating.

Sensing weakness, challengers are champing at the bit.

Fox News further reports:

Democratic activist Badrun Khan, who has challenged Ocasio-Cortez for the Democratic nomination to represent New York’s 14th district. says on her website that she’ll provide “REAL Results… Not Empty Promises” — an apparent jab at the socialist darling.

When asked about Khan’s challenge, Ocasio-Cortez said: “I just focus on delivering for my district and doing the best job. I try not to focus too much on other folks in the field,” according to The Hill.

Khan filed her statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Committee in July. The website for New York City’s government confirms that Khan serves on Queens Community Board 2.

Khan’s website says she wants to enhance Medicare and Social Security but appeared to take a shot at “Medicare-for-all,” a plan championed by progressives like Ocasio-Cortez.

According to a recent survey commissioned by Stop The AOC political action committee, Ocasio-Cortez’s favorability among Democrats in her congressional district is a tepid 47%.

That’s not great news when the same constituency gave Hillary Clinton more than 77% of the vote in 2016.
