During a Friday night rally, President Donald Trump suggested that Americans who are sick and tired of watching national anthem protests before every NFL game should use their freedom, just like the players are, and stop watching.
It looks like America was listening.
Sunday night’s game posted an 11.6 rating, down from 12.9 a year ago, and a 20-percent share, down from 21 percent in 2016. Sunday Night Football featured the Washington Redskins defeating the Oakland Raiders 27-10, while last year’s Week 3 Sunday night game saw the Chicago Bears take on the Dallas Cowboys.
Sunday night’s game also was below the ratings for the first two previous Sunday night games of the season.
