A question from CNN White House press correspondent Jim Acosta backfired on Thursday when he asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders about something President Donald Trump wrote in a tweet.
Acosta, a known provocateur in the press pool, tried to attack the president over a tweet from early Thursday morning that called for the Senate Intelligence Committee to look into “fake news” pushed by media networks in the U.S.
Acosta tried to insinuate that Trump does not value the First Amendment as much as he does the Second Amendment following the deadly Las Vegas shooting.
“Why did the president tweet this morning that he would like to see the Senate Intelligence Committee investigate news outlets in this quest to go after fake news?” Acosta asked. “Does he value the First Amendment as much as he does the Second Amendment?”
