Joe Biden ended up bragging about getting the prosecutor that was looking into the case fired, and he leveraged U.S. aid to do so. Biden told a crowd that he withheld the aid and told officials in Ukraine that they needed to fire the prosecutor or he would get back on a plane and they wouldn’t see the money. The prosecutor was quickly dismissed and U.S. aid went through.
