A Bronx cop has been indicted on 67 criminal charges after he paid an underage girl for sex and recorded their encounters.

Despite the disgusting crime and the compelling evidence recovered from his apartment, the police union refused to let the New York Police Department fire Officer Raul Olmeda.

In March, when authorities conducted a raid of Olmeda’s Bronx apartment, they seized a computer, cell phone, video camera, and some external hard drives. On the devices, they found recordings of Olmeda coercing the teen into having sex over a period of several months, along with encounters with other girls.

They also found a PowerPoint presentation titled “The List” which tracked the names, birth dates, and photos of all the women he had slept with since 1989—including many who appeared to be underage.

Prosecutors are claiming that, even after the raid, Olmeda continued to abuse his power as a cop and have sex with the same teenager—despite the ongoing investigation.

Since firing Olmeda was seemingly impossible, his superiors assigned him to desk duty. But the lack of professional responsibilities meant Olmeda had plenty of spare time to impede the department’s investigation into him. Authorities later found that Olmeda had reviewed the status of his case in the NYPD database and even had a folder entitled “My Investigation” on his computer.

Prosecutors say more charges may be pending against Olmeda as authorities continue their investigation.
