Israel loves Donald Trump so much that they’re planning to name a new train station in the Old City of Jerusalem after the American President.
The station will operate inside the walls of the Old City near the Western Wall — the holiest site in Judaism.
Israel Katz, Israel’s Minister of Transportation, thinks that dedicating the station to Trump would be an excellent way to thank him for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and moving the U.S. Embassy there from nearby Tel-Aviv.
“I decided to call the new train station which will be established in the Jewish Quarter near the Western Wall and the Temple Mount in the name of President Donald Trump, because of his historical and brave decision to recognize Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people, as the capital of the state of Israel and his intention to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem,” Katz explained.
The train station is just one of many projects in Israel named after Trump — showing just how deeply popular the U.S. President is in the Jewish homeland.
A Jerusalem city council member has proposed changing a street Jerusalem’s Muslim Quarter to Donald Trump Street. A street in the coastal city of Ashkelon also plans to rename a road “Trump Declaration Street,” in honor of Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital. A park in the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Yam is also planned to bear Trump’s name.
