BuzzFeed is facing a massive backlash over a racist, anti-white article, titled “37 Things White People Need to Stop Ruining in 2018.”

The article was written by a BuzzFeed staffer named Patrice Peck, who is a black woman, and included a long list of things that she deemed “ruined” by white people this year, and hopes they’ll stop in 2018.

Peck includes “macaroni and cheese,” “protests,” “sneaker culture,” “makeup,” “the United States of America” (after 70 percent of white people voted for Trump), “our national anthem,” and every song or movie by black people.

The backlash against BuzzFeed — particularly from conservative news outlets — was harsh, with one Twitter poster calling the article “bad for America,” and another asking, “Did any other race ruin 37 things in 2017, or is that racist?”

BuzzFeed, the one-time clickbait site that has reemerged as a news outlet, had gotten into hot water over racial commentary before, including earlier this year when one columnist claimed that the phrase “victims of communism” was part of a “white supremacy ideology.”
