More than 99,000 people have signed a petition asking the National Football League (NFL) to accept a Super Bowl ad created by a veterans’ group asking people to stand during the national anthem after the NFL previously blocked the ad.

“I am appalled to learn the NFL has decided to reject a patriotic ad by AMVETS. Rejecting an ad that simply encourages Americans to stand for the national anthem and our flag is an insult to every veteran who has served in our nation’s military,” the American Family Association petition read.

“In the strongest possible terms, I urge you to stop the blatant hypocrisy and accept the patriotic ad by AMVETS as originally submitted,” the petition continued.

Last week, the country’s largest veterans service organization, AMVETS (American Veterans), was offered the opportunity to create an ad in the Super Bowl LII program, which would have cost the group $30,000.
