A new poll has found that a whopping 85 percent of African-Americans opposed increased immigration.
The poll, conducted by Harvard-Harris, found that vast majorities of all races want to see immigration dramatically reduced. In 2017, nearly 1.5 million immigrants arrived legally into the United States.
However, when the poll asked how many immigrants should be allowed in the country, a whopping 85 percent of African-Americans said that it should be less than the current 1.5 million – with a full 54 percent of African-Americans telling pollsters that immigration should be less than 250,000 people per year.
The poll raises a surprising potential problem for Democrats, as they go all-in for open borders, including initiating a controversial government shutdown to promote their policy proposals.
With the Democrats’ African-American base so against immigration, it’s clear that the party may struggle to keep all members of their coalition happy as they approach the 2018 midterm elections.
