Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter responsible for the deaths of 13 service members, is an infamous case of political correctness run-amok.
Many of his superiors were terrified of being called out for being insensitive if they ever questioned his extreme behavior, including the need for proselytizing others about his Muslim faith (at one point he went on an Anti-American diatribe in front of his colleagues about “infidels”).
Hasan was also in contact with known terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki, which should’ve raised “huge red flags.”
The FBI conducted a review of the bureau’s handling of investigations related to Hasan and whether it missed warning signs. The report made several recommendations to streamline information sharing but nothing sweeping to help prevent future tragedies.
