The committee Maloney is overseeing is one of those responsible for managing Speaker Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry. Even without the impeachment brouhaha, the Oversight and Reform Committee is arguably Congress’ most powerful, as it serves as the Legislative Branch’s main investigative committee.
Maloney’s appointment won’t impede impeachment-happy Democrats. She already voted to impeach President Trump when Rep. Al Green (D-TX) put it forward several months ago.
