A nerve agent was used in a murder attempt on an ex-Russian spy and his daughter in the UK over the weekend, police revealed Wednesday.
A cop is also in serious condition after being the first to arrive on the scene, where Sergei and Yulia Skripal were found slumped over on a bench suffering from a mysterious illness Sunday afternoon, officials said.
“This is being treated as a major incident involving attempted murder, by administration of a nerve agent,” Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said, according to the BBC.
“Having established that a nerve agent is the cause of the symptoms… I can also confirm that we believe that the two people who became unwell were targeted specifically.”
