Of course, Democrats didn’t stop at denying rights to black people. Woodrow Wilson signed the Espionage Act, which imprisoned socialist Eugene Debs and others for opposing the draft in World War I. Franklin Roosevelt used an executive order to incarcerate 110,000 Japanese Americans, disregarding their constitutional rights. For all of Barack Obama’s posturing on Guantanamo Bay, he used the “disposition matrix,” or kill list, to target Americans suspected of joining the jihad overseas; he authorized the extrajudicial killing of at least three Americans in the Anwar al-Awlaki strike in 2011, including Awlaki’s 16-year-old son. Democrats are not the party of due process.
