Democrats were able to take back Congress in 2006 in better economic times, but with the unpopular Iraq war and Bush’s low approval ratings at their backs. Trump doesn’t have those problems. He’s signed sweeping tax cuts into law and overseen unprecedented economic growth, so far this century. With Trump’s 51 percent approval rating – higher than Obama enjoyed at this point in his presidency – Democrats are going to have to work harder to fool people this election cycle.
