Despite rave reviews from customers, the United Kingdom’s first-ever Chick-fil-A franchise announced just weeks after opening it will soon close.

“Gay rights campaigners called for a boycott of Chick-fil-A, which opened its first branch at The Oracle shopping centre in Reading on 10 October,” the BBC reports. A spokeswoman for the centre said “the right thing to do” was to not extend the restaurant’s lease beyond the “six-month pilot period”.

“We always look to introduce new concepts for our customers; however, we have decided on this occasion that the right thing to do is only to allow Chick-Fil-A to trade with us for the initial six-month pilot period, and not to extend the lease any further,” said Oracle in a statement under duress.

Militants cheered the news.

Radical leftists targeted the restaurant for destruction because its founder, S. Truett Cathy, believed marriage should be between a man and a woman.

Cathy died five years ago. The restaurant itself has never taken a stance on the issue.

Leftists continue to threaten and vandalize Chick-fil-A locations because it makes charitable donations to the Salvation Army, which leftists believe is a “hate group.”
