Van Drew, a moderate Democrat, voted against Speaker Pelosi’s impeachment inquiry, lamenting the broken process.
Van Drew first won election to an open seat in 2018 in New Jersey’s 2nd congressional district.
In his own words, he considers himself a Democrat because the party, “always represented working people, middle-class people, and issues of compassion.”
Van Drew has a 100% rating from the NRA and was the only Democrat to vote against a slew of gun control bills following the Sandy Hook shooting.
His centrist stances helped him win three consecutive terms in a conservative state senate district.
Next year’s presidential election promises to be a whole other animal; however, with Trump having prevailed here by 4.5 percentage points in 2016.
