U.S. Customs and Border Protection is levying serious allegations against the socialist-inclined Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio in a letter obtained by the Associated Press. (The Daily Caller)
De Blasio was originally denied entrance into an immigrant detention facility and ended up crossing the border into Mexico and then crossing back into the U.S., Fox News reported. The mayor was accompanied by his NYPD security detail at the time.
The letter states De Blasio’s group was seen taking photos of the facility by a Border Patrol agent. After the agent found out the group wasn’t authorized to be there he asked them to stay put until the issue was sorted out. They ignored his request and drove back into Mexico.
The mayor’s spokesman Eric Phillips maintains the group did nothing wrong and was authorized to be there.
“The mayor crossed the border with the direct approval and under the supervision of the border patrol supervisor at this port of entry,” Phillips said in an email to the Associated Press. “Any suggestion otherwise is a flat-out lie and an obvious attempt by someone to attack the Mayor because of his advocacy for families being ripped apart at the border by the Trump Administration.”
Scandals have plagued De Blasio’s administration from the beginning, starting with investigations into his mayoral campaigns and questionable financing schemes.
