Arguably the front-runner to replace McCain, Adams is seen as a rising star.
If appointed, the 45-year-old former state House speaker, congressional candidate, and Gov. Ducey’s current chief of staff could then run for re-election himself.
Or he could follow in the footsteps of ex-Florida Sen. George LeMieux, who former RINO Charlie Crist appointed, only to step aside two years later to make way for Crist – should Ducey want to run for Senate (the governor is also said to harbor political ambitions beyond Arizona).
