Salcido had stepped over the edge one night when his drinking and cocaine addiction led him on a nighttime rampage that extinguished seven lives.
Among the victims were his wife, two of his daughters, his mother-in-law, and his sisters-in-law.
Later, detectives surprised Salcido, revealing that one of his daughters survived his killing spree. Police found three-year-old Carmina, left by her inhuman father for dead, clinging to life next to her deceased sisters.
Eventually, a loving family adopted Carmina. To cope with her anguish, she wrote a book about her survival and overcoming what could only be described as a hellish first memory.
Salcido is still in prison awaiting his execution. For now.
