At a press conference held in Kentucky, Senator Mitch McConnell, the Minority Leader of the Senate, experienced two distinct instances during which he seemed to briefly lose awareness. In both of these occurrences, McConnell “froze” for over half a minute.

A situation mirroring a previous incident in July on Capitol Hill unfolded once again. During the previous occurrence, the 81-year-old Kentucky Republican, after a brief pause of 19 seconds, was escorted away from the media. He later resumed the conference, reassuring journalists of his well-being.
In the most recent incident, it became apparent that McConnell had a momentary lapse in concentration. A member of his staff approached him and asked if he had heard the reporter’s question, but McConnell did not respond.
After a while, McConnell regained his focus and delivered a concise response to another question about Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, a fellow Republican. However, his assistant had to repeat the question for him. Subsequently, when queried about former President Donald Trump, McConnell brushed aside the question, as is his custom when it comes to Trump-related discussions, before leaving the event.
