In less than one year, the face of CBS’ morning news show, Charlie Rose, the CEO of the entire company, Les Moonves, and – now, the head of its legendary investigative program “60 Minutes,” Jeff Fager – have been forced to resign over allegations of sexual misconduct.

Let that sink in. (New York Post)

CBS News president David Rhodes sent out a statement to staff on Wednesday saying, “Jeff Fager is leaving the company effective immediately,” but added, “This action today is not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports, which continue to be investigated independently. However, he violated company policy and it is our commitment to uphold those policies at every level. [Acting CEO] Joe Ianniello is in full support of this decision and the transition to come.”

Insiders said it is not yet clear what policy Fager violated.

On Sunday, the New Yorker reported that a former CBS intern, Sarah Johansen, had accused Fager of touching her butt during a work party in the 2000s.

Fager’s boss, Les Moonves — who was also accused of sexual misconduct in the New Yorker article — resigned after it was published. Fager declined to comment to the New Yorker about the allegations, while Moonves told the magazine that he’d had romantic relationships with some of the accusers many years ago, but denied any non-consensual activity.

Today’s bombshell marks another blow for the left-leaning network.
