Three cheers for James O’Keefe.
Video from the conservative activist shows staffers for Tennessee Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen tell O’Keefe’s undercover reporter Bredesen openly lied about his support for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to win over moderate voters.
James Barrett, at the Daily Wire, reports:
In a secretly recorded exchange, two staffers for Bredesen’s campaign explained that while Bredesen said publicly that he would vote to confirm Kavanaugh, that was just a “political move” that Bredesen felt necessary because he was 8 points behind Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn and a strong majority of Tennesseans wanted to see Kavanaugh confirmed.
“Like, he wouldn’t really vote yes [for Kavanaugh,] would he?” an undercover reporter asked.
“No, it’s a political move,” said one of Bredesen’s field organizers. “He thinks that, like, we’re down like half a point right now. It’s, like, really close and we’re losing by a point or two. So he thinks that if, like, by saying this he’s appealing to more moderate Republicans and he’ll get more of them to vote for us.”
“I was so confused because I just can’t believe he would actually vote [for Kavanaugh],” said the reporter.
“He wouldn’t,” reiterated another staffer. “But he’s saying he would… Which I don’t know if it makes it worse or better. No, it makes it better…”
An ongoing New York Times poll has Republican Representative Marsha Blackburn pulling away from the former Democratic governor by a margin of 54 to 40 percent, with five percent of voters undecided. The poll’s margin of error is 4.3 percentage points.
