Democratic Senator Bill Nelson is running neck-and-neck against Republican Governor Rick Scott, in a race that may decide which party controls the U.S. Senate.

Despite the race for Congress entering the frenzied, final weeks, campaigns in Florida are on pause in the wake of the most powerful hurricane to hit the state’s panhandle since records begin.

That practice has remained standard operating procedure in Florida politics for years. However, telling signs suggest Senator Nelson couldn’t care less.

The Washington Free Beacon’s Brent Scher exposed the campaign’s duplicitous attempt to expand its donor base as severe weather destroyed property and threatened lives.

Here’s what the embattled Democrat did: A link his campaign posted, ostensibly to raise money for hurricane relief, takes those who click on it to ActBlue, a fundraising arm for Democrats and progressive causes.

All of this occurred as 150 mile-per-hour winds and torrential rains from Hurricane Michael left Florida cities in ruins, killing at least six people.
